Karaoke is big in Sydney and dominates the clubs in the city on any given night.
If you want places to dance try the Docks Hotel in Darling Harbour. The Fringe Bar, Oxford St Paddington, is the place for comedy and the slightly earnest. Both the Fringe Bar and the Docks have Karaoke on a Thursday night.
If your staying in one of the many hostels around Central station, or at the Central YHA, check out the Scubar under the YHA on Rawson St Haymarket.
There are a few nightclubs in the CBD, Kings Cross, Manly, Darling Harbour, Cockle Bay wharf. Oxford St, Potts Point and North Sydney.
